Friday Fun: Excel Songs by Professor Clint Tuttle

Here’s a bit of Friday fun, with Excel song videos by professor Clint Tuttle. I used to look forward to his videos, in December and April, when the school terms ended.

Clint Tuttle Music Videos

Clint Tuttle hasn’t uploaded any Excel song videos recently, but if you use Excel, you might be familiar with SQL too – that’s the subject of his latest song.

You might also be familiar with Microsoft Teams, and Zoom, if you’re working from home. The second video below is a tribute to those tools.

Here are a few of Professor Tuttle’s musical videos, and you’ll find more on his YouTube channel.

My favourite video, Excel Funcs,  is at the end of the page here – I saved the best for last! If you only have time to watch one video, scroll down to that one.

SQL’s the Best – May 2021

This song is a parody of a song from the award-winning Canadian comedy TV series, Schitt’s Creek.

You can read all the lyrics on the video’s YouTube page, and even if you don’t use SQL, you might relate to some of the lyrics, like this part:

  • But I’m stuck on an error message, I’m hoping Google can help

Tribute to Microsoft Teams and Zoom – March 2020

Are you working or studying at home, and connecting with people on Microsoft Teams and Zoom? So is Professor Tuttle

This song, You Need to TURN DOWN,  is a tribute to those two tools, that we’ve come to depend on.

All the lyrics are on the video’s YouTube page, and here’s a line that I can relate to:

  • And control your urge to scream ABOUT THE TECH you think that you hate Cuz it’s saving us at the end of the day

Excel is Wonderful – December 2018

This ode to Excel is a parody of Wonderwall, by Oasis, and it’s the last Excel-themed song that Professor Tuttle did. So far, at least..

You can read all the lyrics on the video’s YouTube page, but this line is my favourite:

  • “I don’t believe that anybody Can get ahead in life, without Excel”

Problem Solving Song – The Skills I Take With Me – May 2018

This song is about problem solving, and is based on the song, Tennessee Whiskey, by Chris Stapleton.

It’s not about Excel, but spreadsheets do get a mention:

  • My spreadsheet skills are all just sublime The things I’ve learned, will all come in handy

You’ll find all the lyrics on the video’s YouTube page.

Excel Skills – May 2017

This song is a parody of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”, and it’s all about Excel.

The full lyrics are on the video’s YouTube page, and here’s a great line from the song:

  • your skills are nifty, and you’re working a spreadsheet And your pivot table saves the day

Excel Funcs – May 2015

Finally, here’s my favourite Clint Tuttle Excel song – Excel Funcs. It’s a parody of Uptown Funk, by Bruno Mars, and it’s a full-on music video, with singing and dancing!

The full lyrics are on the video’s YouTube page, and here’s one of the best lines:

  • Spreadsheet skills gonna get ya that money

Enjoy!
